When your body is giving you more than one clue.
Cornwall Physio is where many people start when something hurts.
A knee that will not settle. A back that keeps flaring. A tendon that gets grumbly every time training builds. A shoulder that improves for a few weeks and then starts niggling again.
That is exactly what physiotherapy is for, and it is why Cornwall Physio exists.
But sometimes the picture is bigger than one painful area.
Sometimes the pain is there, but so is poor recovery. Or fatigue. Or gut symptoms. Or hormone changes. Or bloodwork that has come back as “normal”, even though you do not feel normal.
And sometimes you are not feeling awful at all. You are training, working, doing the things, but you want to understand your body properly. You want better energy, better resilience, better recovery, and a clearer plan for long-term health.
That is where Performance Health® comes in.
The bridge between Cornwall Physio and Performance Health®
CORNWALL PHYSIO
The right place to start when your main issue is pain, injury, movement, strength, rehab or getting back to doing the things you want to do.
PERFORMANCE HEALTH
The next step when you want to look wider, at bloodwork, recovery, fatigue, gut health, hormones, inflammation, resilience, longevity and health optimisation.
- For some people, that wider look is needed because they are struggling.
- For others, it is because they want to optimise.
BOTH ARE VALID.
The question is not always, “What is wrong with me?” Sometimes the better question is, “What does my body need next?”
Which route is right for You?
Start with Cornwall Physio if...
Your main problem is pain, injury, stiffness, weakness, a grumbly tendon, a recurring back, knee or shoulder problem, or getting back to normal movement and strength.
Cornwall Physio is for:
- Pain and injury assessment
- Hands-on treatment
- Rehabilitation
- Strength and movement work
- Sports injury recovery
- Gait, running or performance support where relevant
- Helping you get back to doing the things you want to do
Sometimes pain is pain, and physiotherapy is exactly the right place to start.
Look at Performance Health® if...
Your symptoms, goals or health questions feel wider than one painful area.
Performance Health® may be the better route if:
- Your recovery is not what it used to be
- You feel tired, flat, foggy, bloated, wired or underpowered
- Your training tolerance has changed
- Your pain or flare-ups keep coming back even when you are doing the right rehab
- Your bloodwork has been called normal, but you still do not feel like yourself
- You are noticing hormone changes, poor sleep, low libido or energy crashes
- You are interested in longevity and health optimisation
- You want to understand your bloodwork properly, not just collect random tests
- You want a clear plan for better energy, resilience, recovery and long-term health
This is not about testing everything for the sake of it.
It is about asking better questions, looking at the foundations properly, and using the information to decide what actually needs to change.
We should not pretend every injury is really a bloodwork issue. Sometimes a tendon needs progressive loading. But we also should not ignore the person who has done the rehab, followed the plan, and still feels something deeper is holding them back.
Performance Health® is not just for when you feel awful.
This is the bit I really want to be clear.
Performance Health® is not only for people who have hit a wall.
Yes, it can be helpful when someone has fatigue, poor recovery, gut symptoms, hormone changes, inflammation, repeated flare-ups or confusing bloodwork.
But it is also for people who are already doing pretty well and want to do better.
- People who train.
- People who work hard.
- People who care about how they age.
People who want better energy, better recovery, better resilience and a deeper understanding of what is happening under the surface.
In reality, health optimisation is not about chasing perfection. It is about knowing where your body is underperforming, where the opportunities are, and what is actually worth your time, energy and money.
That is the Performance Health® space.

What Performance Health® Looks At
The starting point is usually Bloodwork Analysis. That means looking at your markers in context, not just asking whether each result sits inside a standard lab range.
We may look at patterns around
- Inflammation
- Iron status
- Thyroid function
- Blood sugar regulation
- Vitamin D, B12, folate
- Liver & kidney function
- Lipids
- Hormones
- Gut health
- Recovery and resilience
- Longevity and health optimisation markers
The Flagship Programme is built around four months of testing, interpretation, strategy and guided implementation.
It includes Advanced Functional Bloodwork Analysis, looking at 75+ markers through optimal ranges, alongside the Performance Health Blueprint, which looks at symptoms, lifestyle, stress, sleep, food, history and goals.
It also includes one advanced test for added precision. That may be Genetics + Epigenetics, the DUTCH Hormone Test, or the GI Map Stool Test, chosen during the initial consultation based on what your bloodwork, Blueprint, symptoms and goals are signalling.
The aim is not to collect random tests. The aim is to use the right information, in the right order, so the plan becomes specific to your body.
How this is different from standard blood tests
Standard blood tests
Standard blood tests are usually read through disease-detection ranges. That matters, and if something needs GP or specialist input, it should absolutely go through the right medical route.
But many active adults sit in the frustrating middle.
They have not been told they have a disease, but they know they are not functioning at their best.
They are tired. Their recovery is poor. Their body feels more reactive. Training tolerance has changed. Pain keeps flaring. Or they simply want to know whether their current health foundations are as strong as they could be.
Performance Health® analysis
Performance Health® looks for patterns.
Are markers sitting in a borderline or underperforming zone? Does the bloodwork match the symptoms? Is the body recovering, regulating, repairing and adapting well?
That is often where the useful information sits.
Performance Health® does not replace your GP. It sits alongside appropriate medical care and helps you understand the bigger picture, especially around health optimisation, recovery, resilience and long-term performance.
Meet Your Practitioner: Lou Nicholettos
Lou is the founder of Cornwall Physio and Performance Health®.
She is a specialist physiotherapist with over 20 years of experience, an MSc in Pain Science, and additional training in functional medicine and Bloodwork Analysis.
Cornwall Physio is where Lou’s work started: pain, injury, rehabilitation, movement, strength, and helping people get back to doing the things they want to do.
Performance Health® came later, because in reality, some people need us to look wider than one painful joint, one injury or one set of exercises.
Sometimes the body is not adapting in the way we would expect.
Sometimes the issue is not just strength, mobility or rehab.
Sometimes we need to look at bloodwork, recovery, fatigue, gut health, hormones, inflammation, resilience, longevity and health optimisation.
That is why the two services are connected.
Cornwall Physio is the place for pain, injury and rehab.
Performance Health® is the wider pathway for people who want to understand their body more deeply and build a stronger foundation for the next stage of life.
Local and remote support
Performance Health® works with clients locally in Cornwall and remotely across the UK.
If you are local, testing and support can be discussed as part of the Performance Health® process.
If you are elsewhere in the UK, the programme can still be delivered remotely where appropriate.

FAQ's
Performance Health® is connected to Cornwall Physio because Lou founded both, and because the body is connected.
But it is a separate functional health and health optimisation pathway with its own site, programme and booking process.
If your main issue is pain, injury, movement or rehab, start with Cornwall Physio.
If your question is wider than that, for example fatigue, poor recovery, bloodwork, gut symptoms, hormone changes, inflammation, resilience, longevity or health optimisation, Performance Health® may be the better route.
If you are unsure, start with the route that matches your biggest concern right now.
No.
Performance Health® can be useful if you are struggling with symptoms, but it is also for people who want to optimise their health, recovery, resilience and long-term performance.
You do not have to wait until you feel awful before looking at your bloodwork and health foundations properly.
Bloodwork Analysis means looking at your blood markers in context.
Instead of only asking whether each marker is inside a standard lab range, we look at the pattern across the whole picture.
The better question is not just, “Is anything flagged?”
It is, “What does this tell us about how your body is recovering, regulating, repairing and adapting?”
No.
Performance Health® does not replace your GP.
If something needs GP or specialist input, that should go through the right medical route. Performance Health® sits alongside appropriate medical care and focuses on functional patterns, health optimisation, recovery and resilience.
