When low back pain starts, it’s easy to think “oh, it’s just an ache. It’ll go away”. Or assume you sat for too long or lifted something too heavy in the gym. Even worse, perhaps you think “it’s normal” to have a stiff back…
If that sounds like you, Cornwall Physio is here to help:
And you’re not alone. Every day at Cornwall Physio, we help people who feel like this. You see, with back pain, everyone asks the same questions…
• Why does my back hurt so much? (I don’t even know what I did…)
• Why isn’t my back pain going away?
• Am I going to have to live with back pain forever?
Low back pain can be confusing. For you, it might have started suddenly after a heavy set of deadlifts in the gym or come on more gradually whilst out running or walking. Often, people with low back pain come for physio after they’ve had symptoms for months or even years. Usually, they’ve unintentionally worsened the problem. Without the right treatment, low back pain tends to stick around, sometimes for a LONG time.
Low back pain doesn’t usually go away ‘by accident’. It also doesn’t significantly go away with rest. There are lots of everyday things that people try to help their low back pain that don’t work and prolong the problem.
When it comes to living with low back pain, everybody we see wants to know:
"Why Is This Happening To Me? ..."
or
" Why Am I Still Suffering With Back Pain After Putting Up With It for 6 Months (Maybe More)?"
Here’s the most crucial thing…
Most people get stuck trying to decide what to do next. Sometimes, putting off treatment for days, weeks, months or even years. But we guarantee your low back pain won’t get better this way.
Does This Sound Like You?

Why Else Does Back Pain Last Longer Than It Should?
Here are the most common mistakes we see people making when it comes to Low Back Pain…
- Mistake #1: Thinking back pain will go away with rest.
- Mistake #2: Believing back pain is inevitable since an injury or surgery “X years” ago
- Mistake #3: Assuming back pain is a “normal” part of getting older…
- Mistake #4: Believing that since you tried other healthcare professionals (maybe even Physiotherapy) in the past means that it won’t work now.
- Mistake #5: Relying on "Dr Google" or YouTube for exercises that don’t make any difference (or even made your back pain worse).
- Mistake #6: Getting sports massage to temporarily relieve back pain, only to find it comes back after the massage wears off.
